I suffered with back ache, stiff shoulders and poor posture for several years as a result of having worked in the wine trade, logistics industry and lately in financial services and my wife suggested that I get a massage to try and sort these issues out. What an experience! A lot of the stiffness in my shoulders disappeared and, although it was a deep tissue massage, it was also incredibly relaxing.
In 2015 it was time for a career rethink and I had the opportunity to have a weekend taster session with London School of Sports Massage and was immediately hooked.
Full time intensive course
I then signed up to an intensive course with Premier Global which was an amazing experience and gained so much knowledge and expertise in a very short space of time and also qualified level 3 and 4 Diploma in Sports Massage.
Pregnancy and Post-natal massage
After starting my career in sports massage I decided to focus on pregnancy and post-natal with Burrell Education. Jenny Burrell is incredibly passionate and focused women’s health advocate and if you ever have the chance to see her talk it will change your view of women’s health. Please have a look at her website, it is really inspiring.
Since then I have gone on to massage a variety of clients from mums juggling their busy lives, office workers who are also weekend warriors to runners, cyclists and tennis players who have big events coming up and need their body prepared to succeed. It is this variety that makes this job really fascinating and worthwhile. However, the greatest satisfaction comes from watching a client walk out of my studio in Harpenden feeling like they have more flexibility and movement in their body and a lot less stress and tension.
